Psalm 8

1 Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory
in the heavens.
2 Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
3 When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
4 what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?t
5 You have made themt a little lower than the angelst
and crowned themt with glory and honor.
6 You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under theirt feet:
7 all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild,
8 the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.
9 Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

What a beautiful Psalm. Words can not describe Him, not even the word majestic lives up to His name. In verse 3 David considers the heavens, the work of God's fingers, the moon and the stars, which God has set in place ... he is considering these things, thinking about how majestic God is... then in verse 4 he says "What is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings that you care for them?".... To put it in other words, David is saying "Wow God, look at all you have done, and continue to do, look at your creation... you have done so much, you are so big and majestic, and yet you care for us? We don't deserve you!" I understand how Dave feels, I often think about how big the universe is, and then I realise that we are just a spec of dust compared to the milky way, let alone the whole universe. Have you ever seen the Indescribable DVD? I suggest you watch it, it will have you in awe! This world that God has created is tiny compared to the universe He created..... It surely must be tiny compared to God! We are a spec, but He created us, and this earth, down to the finest detail, and He cares for us and loves us with all of his heart. We don't deserve Him.... He is the king, the creator, and we are tiny people with Big sins.
