Psalm 1

I have been through the Psalms a few times now, but I have decided to go through them again and look at what I like about each Psalm. 

Psalm 1

1  Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers,
2 but whose delight is in the law of the Lord,
and who meditates on his law day and night.
3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,
which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
whatever they do prospers.
4 Not so the wicked!
They are like chaff
that the wind blows away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6 For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked leads to destruction

Verse 2 of this Psalm stood out to me.
Sometimes the Lords Law seems a bit frustrating. It can be hard to understand and follow because of temptation and sin.... but this Psalm writer is telling us to meditate on it day and night... That is a huge commitment! It makes me think about how we should be living for God, not for ourselves, like the wicked do. I suppose the Psalm writer has a point then... we should be meditate on his law day and night... which I guess also means we should be following it day and night... not making up excuses like "I can't".... or with a sin like lust your excuse may be "It feels good, it can't be bad". If we were to meditate on the Law that God has written, then maybe we would find it easier to follow, and realize that we should be following Him, no matter how hard life gets. Just a thought.
